No Pain, No Gain!
Rejection is not something Matty is familiar with. But he certainly got a taste of it on his first Flag Selling day two weeks ago.
He started off full of energy, when he managed to sell flags to the first few people we met on the street in Tsim Sha Tsui. He thought it was an easy job. But soon afterwards he realised it was not easy at all. Many people rushed off as fast as they could when Matty approached them. Some shook their heads at him. Some said they had no change. But a few did go up to Matty themselves even though they've already got their flag.
It was after standing in the street for three and a half hours, that Matty gave up. He said he was simply too tired and hungry to continue, and so we returned our super heavy money bags.
And yes he enjoyed it. But for the next few days he kept asking me why some people pretended they couldn't see him. I thought of making up an excuse for them. But I decided to tell Matty the truth... that not everyone is nice in the real world.
